Regina JenningsTell us a little about yourself.

I married my high school sweetheart while in college, got my degree in English (with a history minor) then settled in to keep house and raise babies. During that time I also helped out with the family business, working at the stockyards with pigs a couple of mornings a week. Glamourous, huh? I also homeschooled four kids, which kept me reading good literature and re-learning all the history I’d forgotten over the years. All of that came in handy when I started writing.

Besides writing, my husband and I like to remodel houses, travel and watch Netflix.

What inspired you to become a novelist, and did you always want to write?

I’ve always wanted to write, but being a pragmatist, I didn’t think anything would ever come of it. Finally in 2010, God put the pressure on me in the form of several well-meaning busy-bodies at church who got wind of my dream and wouldn’t let me rest until I’d made an attempt at writing a novel. That first try was “Sixty Acres and a Bride.” In the five years since I started writing that first book I’ve been contracted for eighteen works – 9 full-length historical romances, 2 novellas, and 7 girls’ books. I’m so thankful those busy-bodies were listening to God!

What do you think is significant about Christian fiction?

Love, commitment, family, (can I say desire, too?)—it was all wonderfully designed by our Creator. Secular books often take relationships, twist them into something selfish and base, and then label them romance. If Christians don’t write stories portraying healthy, God-honoring relationships, that void will be filled with misleading tripe. We mustn’t delegate the telling of love stories to unbelievers. It’s our birthright. Love is our message.

lccHow do you hope your readers react to the stories you write?

Primarily, I want readers to love the characters, live in the story-world and experience the story like they’re the one living it. My first responsibility to readers is to offer what they are looking for—an inspiring, entertaining story. Now, hopefully those paying attention will also find a message of hope, better understanding of their neighbors, and a challenge to live for Christ.

What responses to your novels have affected you the most and why?

Any time someone makes the effort to write a letter, post a review or send an email, I’m awed. Nothing makes my day like hearing that people have enjoyed a story that at one time was just a shadowy idea floating around in my head. Complete strangers read what I write and care enough to want to talk about it? I’m flabbergasted!

mmtHow has being a novelist impacted your relationship with Christ?

It’s more challenging to have extended, Bible study, that’s for sure. Before I started writing, I’d often get on a topic during my Bible study and I’d lose hours chasing thread through the Old and New Testaments, digging through commentaries and concordances to find subtleties I’d missed before. Now I spend so much of my day at a computer or with books researching, that it’s hard to get lost in my Bible study. I have one eye on the clock wondering how long I need to get my daily word count in. I have to reserve time for my Bible study now.

Other than writing great novels, what other goals do you have for your life?

Of course there are the normal goals like raising great kids, traveling the world, helping advance the Kingdom of God…and then there are my other goals. I’d like to learn how to play the banjo. I’d like to learn how to tan leather. I want to learn to dance the tango. I’d like for every sock in my house to have a match…even if it’s just for an hour.

omrWhat do you like to do in your spare time?

Ha! Well, besides read I like to work in our church library and go on mission trips. If I’m home with time to spare I’m usually reading aloud to the kids or playing card games. I also enjoy spending time at the gym and watching old movies.

What can you tell us about your latest novels?

At Love’s Bidding is about a Bostonian lady who moves to the Ozark Mountains to manage an antique auction house, but when she gets to Pine Gap she realizes that the auction is a livestock auction and the cowboy running it won’t be managed by any woman.

Fun times!

with-this-ringWhat stories can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?

In January 2016, I’m partnering with three terrific authors for a novella collection – With This Ring? A Novella Collection of Proposals Gone Awry. My story, Her Dearly Unintended, has a fun character Katie Elle who gets stranded in a rainstorm with her ex-beau, Josiah, but they are not alone. To stave off the attentions of a threatening man, Josiah claims that he and Katie Ellen are married. Can their pretending keep them out of danger, or will the consequences be more than they bargained for?

What would you like to say to your fans in New Zealand, and others worldwide?

Howdy, y’all! I can’t imagine what Kiwis and others from across the seas think about my cowboys and mountaineers, but I hope you enjoy your time in my part of the planet. (And I’m really curious how our crazy dialect is going to read when the German and Dutch translations come out.)

If you ever get a chance, drop in for a visit. If it’s of a summer we’ll spray for ticks and chiggers, grab an inner tube and we’ll float the river together. Just watch out for leeches.

rjenningsDo you have any parting words?

Christian authors might have a smaller audience than other fiction genres, but we have the best fans! Y’all are so encouraging and sweet, and love to talk good stories, too! It’s such a privilege getting to meet readers from around the world. Thank you for supporting us and letting us share God-honoring stories with the world!

Abigail Stuart Thought She was Jeremiah Calhoun’s Widow.
But Jeremiah Calhoun Is Very Handsome, Very Alive, and Very Perplexed.
Most Inconvenient Indeed.

With few options of her own, nurse Abigail Stuart agrees to marry her patient, a gravely wounded soldier calling himself Jeremiah Calhoun. They arrange a quick ceremony before he dies, giving Abigail the rights to his Ozark farm and giving Jeremiah the peace of knowing someone will care for his ailing sister after he’s gone–a practical solution for both of them.

After the war, Abigail fulfills her side of the bargain–until the real Jeremiah Calhoun shows up, injured but definitely alive, and wastes no time in challenging Abigail’s story. Abigail is flummoxed. After months of claiming to be his widow, how can she explain that she’s never seen this Jeremiah Calhoun before? How can she convince him that she isn’t trying to steal his farm? And will she find a way to stay, even though this practical arrangement has turned into a most inconvenient marriage?

Sometimes Love is Found in the Most Unexpected Places!

Love isn’t always a fairy tale, and it doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes the best stories, though, are the ones that are the most unexpected. Join Karen Witemeyer, Mary Connealy, Regina Jennings, and Melissa Jagears for novellas that celebrate the power of love to triumph . . . even when circumstances go awry!

The Husband Maneuver
When ranch foreman Daniel Barrett seems ready to leave her life forever, Marietta Hawkins decides to grab the reins on their relationship. But to have any hope of maneuvering him into a proposal, she has to act fast or risk losing him completely.

Her Dearly Unintended
Josiah Huckabee just wanted to make sure Katie Ellen Watson was safe, but when the only bridge to her farm is washed out, the two find themselves alone. Alone, that is, until a menacing stranger appears. Maybe by pretending to be newlyweds, they’ll save their reputations–but can pretending to be in love turn into the real thing?

Runaway Bride
Hired to help Carrie Halsey escape from a dangerous man intent on making her his wife, Big John Conroy never expected the job to interrupt his solitary Texas Ranger life. But now that he’s promised to keep Carrie safe, he discovers he may just want to make a few more promises.

Engaging the Competition
Harrison Gray and tomboy Charlotte Andrews have been rivals for years. With Charlotte intended for someone else, it seems they’ll never settle their differences until an accident changes things completely. When Charlotte breaks Harrison’s glasses–without which he’s nearly blind–she must help with his teaching position, and working together forces these former adversaries to reconsider everything.
