Anji's Return to the Red River Valley Offers a Fresh Start--and a Surprising Second Chance at Love.

Anji Baard Moen, recently widowed in Norway, returns to North Dakota with her children. She quickly settles back into life in the familiar surroundings of Blessing, teaching in the high school and writing articles for the "Blessing Gazette." In the midst of an unexpected crisis, Anji is thrust into a role she never imagined. And almost without her even being aware, an old friendship begins to show signs of developing into something more.

Meanwhile, Thomas Devlin, a minister without a post, has arrived in town. Devlin supports himself as a journeyman carpenter, and with the town growing rapidly, he has no shortage of opportunities. Establishing himself in a new community has its challenges, but as the newcomer gets to know the young widow whose house he's been working on, he thinks he may have found yet another reason to stay. . . .

About the Author

Lauraine Snelling is a member of the more than Two Million Books In Print club, but when she first began, she was a mother of three teenagers with a simple dream to write “horse books for kids.”

Her dreams manifested into reality in 1982 with Tragedy on the Toutle, a story about a girl and her horse caught in the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in Washington state. Lauraine continued the dream, publishing two more best-selling series: High Hurdles and Golden Filly, and expanded into writing inspirational romances for adults.

Her Norwegian heritage spurred her to craft An Untamed Land, volume one of the Red River of the North family saga and a trilogy called Return to Red River. Due to reader demand she then wrote two further Bjorklund series called Daughters of Blessing and Home to Blessing. Three more historical sets have followed, one set during the Civil War, A Secret Refuge, which traced the journey of a young woman leading Thoroughbreds across the country to safety, a series called Dakotah Treasures, and her most recent series, Wild West Wind.

Writing about real issues within a compelling story is a hallmark of Lauraine’s style, shown in her contemporary romances and women’s fiction which has probed the issues of forgiveness, loss, domestic violence and cancer.

All told, she has over 70 books published. She thinks. She’s not sure. She’d rather write them than count them. Lauraine’s work has been translated into Norwegian, Danish and German as well as produced as books on tape.

Awards have followed her dedication to “telling a good story”: the Silver Angel Award for An Untamed Land and a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart for Song of Laughter.

Lauraine's books consistently appear on CBA bestseller lists and are frequently featured in the Crossings Book Club. Lauraine and her husband, Wayne, live in California and have two grown sons.
