(Hallowed Halls #1)
When Dr. Joy Gilbert is fired from a lucrative position she hates in the city, she returns to her small hometown to find her former fiance single, her once vivacious mother struggling financially and physically, and Tressa, the 15-year-old daughter of the boss who just fired her, popping out of the back door of her car. Tressa refuses to return to the city, where her divorced parents struggle emotionally over the death of their son.
When Dr. Zack Tyler sees Joy walk into the ER with the daughter of the man who lured Joy away from him, he's hesitant, though he's overjoyed to see her again. Out of compassion, he hires her in the ER so she can support herself and her mother, and their relationship blooms.
Meanwhile, Tressa has blackouts that grow increasingly bad. Joy and Zack rediscover their love for one another as they discover what caused the break-up. Together they work to save Tressa and uncover a rare genetic defect, a mystery that has ravaged decades of Tressa's family line.
Praise for Hallowed Halls
"Hallowed Halls by Hannah Alexander is a great story with an intriguing concept, believable and fascinating characters and loads of suspense and romance, making it a hard book to put down. I've read Hannah Alexander's books before but in my opinion this is her best. A great writer and a great story. What more could you want. This one's a keeper." -- Barbara Warren, author of Dangerous Inheritance
"I believe this is the first book I've read by the husband/wife writing team of Hannah Alexander and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hallowed Halls, book one in a new series, combines the elements of family dynamics, second-chance romance, and medical intrigue. I especially enjoy books that are character driven, and that was very prevalent in this story, expressed through relational struggles between employer/employee, parent/child, and estranged spouses. Filled with good dialogue, the narrative moves at a steady pace that held my attention throughout." -- Carole Jarvis, Soul Inspirationz Reviewer

Another wonderful story from the pen of Hannah Alexander, with an endearing ensemble cast and idyllic setting that begs for more stories to be told. Secondary characters Molly and Tressa stole the show and added an enjoyable depth to the story, promising more to come. A truly solid start to the Hallowed Halls series.
Dr Joy Gilbert had a lucrative job that could provide her with the finer things in life. But she has a desire to help the under privileged and a real love for her patients. That desire causes tension between her and her boss that leads to her dismissal. Too add extra spice to this already great story the teenage daughter of her ex-boss stows away in her car. The medical mystery and drama that comes with teenager Tressa adds so much to story. As she returns to her hometown to help her ailing mother she runs into her ex fiancé and is given a second chance at romance and a fulfilling career.
Hallowed Halls is a great read. I found the storyline to be exciting, fast paced and humorous. The characters are well developed and realist. Hallowed Halls has a little of everything, the mystery of unknown medical diagnosis, romance, drama and a Christian message. Christy Award winning author Hannah Alexander did a magnificent job with this 5 star book. I highly recommend it. Hallowed Halls is a Jerry B. Jenkins select book.
